Following the governor's guidelines, our limits are:

*Only 4 shoppers total at one time

Many thanks to Super One Foods in Marquette for allowing our hard working New Free Store volunteers bag groceries on Saturday, February 1st. Our collection jar for donations was quickly filled and we were most pleased to raise nearly enough funds to cover the rent for one month! New Free Store greeters met grocery customers at the door with a short list of needed cleaning or personal hygiene products and the Super One shoppers generously donated over $200 worth of toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, laundry soap, dish soap and hand soap! In addition, Mans, the Super One assistant manager, donated a large quantity of toilet paper and hand soap. We are very appreciative of the generosity of our volunteers, Super One employees and the Super One shoppers!

We still have MANY weeks (hopefully not months!) remaining this winter and The New Free Store is in need of men's long sleeve, cold weather shirts or sweaters! Please look through your closets and consider donating pullover men's winter wear. All sizes would be appreciated.
Boys Pants
And, we seem to ALWAYS be in need of boys pants in every size.

Beginning Friday, November 29th, The New Free Store will offer Holiday Shopping. As long as supplies last, we will have the following items for members of each household:
- Christmas Stockings (or Stocking Stuffers) for children and teens
- Christmas gift mugs for that special male or female on your shopping list
- New gift items for all ages for those who reside in the household
We want our shoppers to enjoy the spirit of giving gifts in this upcoming Holiday Season however, supplies are limited and we request shoppers choose 1 gift per household member.

Third Anniversary Celebration

On October 10, 2019 over 100 people helped us celebrate three years of operation at our M28 location next to the Lion's Field in Harvey. Most of the guests were shoppers, but we also had 18 volunteers and numerous Friends of the New Free Store financial donors. We served hot dogs, chips, apples, veggies, donuts and apple cider to the hungry crowd from noon to 7:00 PM. The treats were available thanks to donations from Walmart, Meijer and the Marquette Food Co-Op. Pumpkins were also available to each shopping family thanks to a donation from Snyder's Drug Store in Harvey.
In addition to celebrating our third anniversary, we were especially pleased to distribute youth winter outerwear. LakeState Industries allowed the use of their building space which was filled to over flowing with jackets, snowpants, boots, hats, and mittens from infant to teen sizes. Much of this winter apparel was made possible thanks to a generous donation from the Marquette Breakfast Rotary. Many of our youth shoppers now have adequate clothing for our long UP winters!

The New Free Store will hold a HUGE Rummage Sale on Saturday, June 22nd from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM. We are seeking donations of useable, quality items with a value of at least $5.00. We are also offering space for others wanting to sell items. Vendors may rent a space for only $10.
Donations for the rummage sale may be dropped off on Tuesdays from 11 - 3:00 or during open Free Store hours. Proceeds from the sale will help with The New Free Store operating expenses.
Please plan on donating or shopping and help us spread the word!
